The Numbers

Often, students ask us about "The Numbers" associated with their academic misconduct process:

"What are the chances that I am found not responsible?"

"How many appeals are approved?"

"When will I know the result of my case?"

While each case presents a unique situation, this section hopefully answers these numerical-related concerns with data compiled from the most recent semester of cases. â€‹â€‹

The following statistics apply to the 2024-2025 Academic Year. At the time of collecting this data, four cases remained pending, which affects the calculation of percentage totals.

Demographic Information

In addition to these statistics, we conducted our own research to identify trends in academic misconduct cases. This research gathered demographic information from students accused of academic misconduct as well as general information using a Google Form. These individuals participated anonymously and voluntarily. Information about race, gender, socioeconomic status, and previous academic experience were collected.

Other details such as assignment type and class characteristics were also obtained. This information was obtained through collaboration with the Office of Student Academic Affairs.
